Our Project Executive, Sara, reviews the newest addition to our fleet…
If you were to ask me what my favourite car is, I’d have to tell you that I’m a Mini girl. Well, ok I’m actually not that mini myself (I’m 5’10) but I do love the range of Minis that we have on fleet. For most of the past year I drove a Mini Paceman, a car that invited a lot of admiration as well as a few cheeky comments. I’d either get “It’s a Mini adventure!” or else “That’s not a mini, it’s a maxi!”
It was this last comment that niggled me, I still loved my Mini but there is no getting away from the fact that since it’s re-release under BMW, the cars have continued to grow larger… I’m not sure that Michael Caine and co. could have pulled off ‘The Italian Job’ in my Paceman…
But there is a brand on the market that will fit into the space that no other car will. I’m talking of course about the Smart Car. For years they were restricted to a tiny 2-seat version that I could never have hoped to fit into, but now they’ve broadened their range.
Smart say that the new Smart ForFour is perfect for City driving. I disagree. It is great in just about any location. Being a country-girl I’m used to narrow lanes and tiny village centres – so I can tell you that this little car is at home in both the city and the countryside. (It didn’t struggle with motorway miles either.)
The Smart ForFour Passion is cute as a button from the outside, and incredibly well-equipped on the inside. Given how reasonably priced it is, I wasn’t expecting to be blown away, but it won me over in almost no time. The interior is surprisingly spacious (if a little economical in design) and I was pleasantly surprised to find it had a number of luxury features - such as Cruise Control.
Even more great features are released when you link the car to your smartphone via Bluetooth. Smart have taken their connectivity one step further than usual with the ‘Smart Guide’ and Smart ‘Cross Connect’ apps. The Smart Guide provides you with a digital copy of the owner’s manual, and other technical knowledge. However, the Cross Connect app not only gives you enhanced Bluetooth connectivity, it also provides you with Sat Nav. The best part? Both apps are FREE to download and use.
It really is a Smart cookie.
