Changes to the Congestion Charge: The T-Charge
Wed Sep 27, 2017 | By: Sara Orritt

This Autumn, Transport for London (TfL) has launched changes to the Congestion Charge Zone in Central London.

These changes, in conjunction with the new T-Charge, will score new LCVs and most new cars on emissions - based on independent vehicle tests carried out by Emissions Analytics and the International Council of Clean Transportation. The changes may mean that the Ultra Low Emission Zone (slated for 2020) could be brought forward to 2019.

All vehicles which do not meet the minimum Emissions Standard (Euro 4/IV) for petrol and diesel vehicles will be subject to the T-Charge from 23rd October 2017. This daily surchage is currently set at £10 across all vehicles which do not meet the minimum standard. County customers can be assured that the surchage will not apply to their rental - as all of the vehicles on our rental fleet exceed the minimum standard.

You can check if your own vehicle meets the minimum standard by using TfL's online tool.

The charges operate as follows:

  • Monday - Friday, 07:00 - 18:00
  • Excludes Bank Holidays and the period between Christmas Day and New Year's Day inclusive
